Frustrated with the current
methods of supply for IT Professional Services? This presentation
will provide a refresher of the fundamentals of the two
methods of supply, the Solution Based Informatics Professional
Services (SBIPS) and the Task Based Informatics Professional
Services (TBIPS) and will assist you in deciding which
tools will provide the best results for clients. It will
also cover the latest changes that will affect the use
of those MOS following the next wave of SO and SA awards.

Réal Benoît, Manager,
Informatics Methods of Supply, Public Works and Government
Services Canada
Réal Benoit was recruited
by Public Works and Government Services Canada in 1989,
where he managed the procurement process of many IT requirements
for the federal government. He also managed the UNIX based
NMSO and the famous Department of National Defence IT NISO.
In 1996, Réal decided
to leave the public sector and work on the opposite side
of the industry as a sales resource. For ten years, he
worked for a few resellers and a manufacturer but has always
remained in the IT Industry.
During his tenure in the private
sector, Réal went from being a representative for
all types of IT products and brands to managing half the
country’s sales and partners for an IT manufacturer.
In 2006, Réal had an
opportunity to return to PWGSC and accepted a position
as a supply specialist for maintenance services.
Today, he is the manager of
the Informatics Methods of Supply in PWGSC where he and
his team are responsible for the management of more than
275 Supply Arrangements and more than 200 Standing Offers.
This team is also responsible for the education of the
departments’ users of those methods of supply and
the provision of a helpdesk and hotline services to all
federal government departments AND more than 300 suppliers.
